During COVID quarantine life, Lamar and I got a little creative on ways to have fun. We (mostly he) were invested in the Verzuz Battles that popped up on Instagram and really enjoyed them.
These Verzuz competitions pit two musical artists against each other in a battle. Each artist then plays their best song and the viewers (audience) debate on which song is the best. This goes on for twenty rounds.
Mostly, these battles allow viewers to relive songs they may not have heard in years, introduce them to songs they never heard, and during COVID, raise their spirits and get them dancing in their home.
Artists that have gone against each other include:
- Kirk Franklin vs. Fred Hammond
- Nelly vs. Ludacris
- Jill Scott vs. Erykah Badu
- Teddy Riley vs. Babyface
- and more…
So you can see why Lamar and I had to do our own. For our battle, we set 10 categories using songs released from 2000-2010. And honestly, I won, but you can watch the video below and come to your own conclusion.
P.S. Be on the lookout because I recently battled Amani (and won again).
